The history of wearing masks

Appropriate occasions for wearing a mask
There are many appropriate occasions for wearing a mask, but just in case you’re unsure, here are just a few:
-At the masquerade ball. Perhaps one of the most well-known parties that involves masks is the masquerade ball. Held on Halloween, it is common to have lots of people in costume and with masks. This has become so popular that there are now special companies that specialize in creating fabulous masks for this occasion. There are also options to hire these companies to make or rent out an entire costume package if desired; there’s no excuse not to get dressed up!
-Trick or Treating on Halloween. It is customary for children to dress up in costumes, complete with masks, and go door-to-door asking for candy during Halloween trick or treating.
-Halloween Costume Parties. These parties can take place at any time of year, though they are more often held during October than any other month because it coincides with the traditional American holiday. They provide adults and kids alike with a chance to wear their favourite costume while having fun partying together. For instance, someone might come as their favourite movie character while another might choose their favourite colour as their costume theme.
Types of masks – what type should you choose
There are three types of masks that one can wear at the masquerade ball. The first is the most popular; a full-face mask, which covers one’s head and face. The second type is more subtle; it only covers the eyes, nose, and mouth (which makes it look like the person is smoking). And lastly, there is a half-mask which only covers half of your face. These types are often seen in Hollywood films or when portraying vampires or other gothic characters in novels. Most people opt for the traditional full-face mask because they want to feel their own identity without anyone recognising them.
